Another amazingly surprising place to shop for clothes and accessories is Rooted Boutique. Situated on the edge of town, you’ll see this quaint clothing shop on the right as you drive in from the West. Located in a residential area, owner, Emily, was very wise to maintain a cheerful white exterior with bold lettering enticing curious visitors to stop and check out her establishment.

Opening her storefront in downtown Sioux City and located in the historic Warrior Hotel building, Emily has made a very strategic choice to bring fashion back to a nearly 90-year-old building. In fact, over the years various businesses from the surrounding small towns have opened a second location in Sioux City, and I’m always inquisitive as to what the original is like, which brings me to Holstein, Iowa.

Dressed to the nines

Pulling up to park, I had to do a double-take, since I felt like I was parking under someone’s car-park trellis, and not in the business’s parking lot, but, indeed, I was at the right place. Walking in, I was immediately greeted by Emily who gave me a grand tour of her well-organized shop.

From contemporary women’s and men’s clothing, to swanky and savvy accessories, Emily’s store also boasts brilliantly colorful Brazilian jewelry. Made locally, this jewelry line is also featured at her Sioux City location, and is the result of a one-of-a-kind partnership with a very talented Siouxlander.

Being a Holstein native, Emily started noticing other locals making their purchases for modern fashion online. Realizing there was a demand for trendy apparel, Emily took advantage of the driving need, and a risk, as some would say, and opened her business in 2016. From brands such as Dolce Vita and Steve Madden, French Connection and even Spanx, patrons can expect to find competitively priced options that are very well-made, which will, in turn, last you years to come.

Wardrobe rehaul

I took note of all the winter coats, since I will be retiring my white Tommy Hilfiger goose-down coat here soon. Gifted to me back in college, I have practically worn the white almost completely out of it over the past 18 years. Sad to see it go, but also excited for change and an upgrade to my winter fashion. Having at least one semi high-end piece I wore regularly during the cold months made me realize that if you spend a little extra on quality fabrics, you won’t need to replace them year after year…unless you want to.

Therefore, now that I have been donating bundles and bundles of clothing, I know very soon I will have to make a trip out to Holstein and check out what Emily has in her inventory. If you would like to shop her product line without having to drive out to Holstein, then check out Rooted Boutique’s website (https://www.shoprootedinstyle.com/), and with Father’s Day coming up, what better way to splurge on that special guy in your life, than a shopping spree!
