So, being that we are going into October, and everywhere you turn there are Oktoberfest specials, let’s do a brewery tour, but not just any brewery tour, we’ll be going to Sioux Falls! During our two-month tour of Sioux Falls we did last year, I noticed the ridiculous number of breweries there were in this South Dakota town. So much so, that I eventually wanted to do a brewery tour, and what better time than at the peak of our Fall season.
Remedy to all your problems
My first stop on our tour is Remedy Brewing Company, and unfortunately, I don’t want to speak too soon, but I believe I may have stumbled upon my favorite brewery in the entire city of Sioux Falls. So, don’t come after me if the others to follow are not up to par with this amazing establishment.
Walking in I was immediately greeted by Hank, a very friendly and welcoming bartender. After looking over the menu, they directed me to their daily special, an Italian sandwich with a side of chips and marinara sauce for dipping. Then, after getting settled up at the bar top, I browsed their on-site brewed beer selection, and chose four for my flight.
Venturing into new territory
Over the years I’ve tried pale ales and lagers, but never really liked them. Then someone introduced me to stouts and sours, and now these two have become my go-to when ever I’m making my beer selection. And what I’ve found is surprisingly many breweries do not have a wide selection of stouts and sours, until I came to Remedy. Not only did they have exactly what I like, but they brew on site!
Hank gave me some advice on my selection, and starting from left to right we have Jason Samoas (11% pastry stout), Huckleberry Basil Kickball (4.1% fruited berliner weisse sour), Dry Irish Stout (4.5%), and Blueberry Kickball (4.1% fruited sour). I loved both the sours, the pastry stout was so yummy, and the Dry Irish Stout reminded me of Guinness.
I liked their beers so much, I knew my husband would too, so I bought a four-pack of their German-inspired Kolsch-style ale. Then, the next day while we were at the grocery store, we found another one of their beers and bought that too. And frustratingly, this one was amazing as well! In fact, like I mentioned before, I am notorious for specifically choosing only stouts and sours, so I was impressed that Remedy kept impressing me.
Plan your visit
When my husband and I go back up to Sioux Falls to see the Falls during their Christmas light show we will be making a stop at this brewery, and maybe I’ll even try another new favorite I never knew I liked. Or most likely, I will only like their version since they seem to always be on their A-Game.
