If you are just tuning in, for the entire month of September we traversed all over the tri-state area in search of places to get married in Siouxland. Previously, we have seen 10 locations to get married within Sioux City, but this time I wanted to expand outside the city limits and travel to smaller towns in our vicinity to bring you a variety of settings and businesses you normally would not know existed.

In this blog post we are simply summarizing the 10 we visited over this past month, but if you are wanting more material on each establishment, I recommend you head over to each blog post for in-depth information and pictures to help you select your next venue for your big day.

1. Old Town Vineyard

Our first venue we visited was Old Town Vineyard in Ida Grove, Iowa. Operating as an active vineyard since 2006, it only recently began hosting large events as of two years ago. Capable of seating 250 guests, this would be the prefect location for a scenic spring wedding. Prices for rental fees depend on your guest count and which catering option you prefer.

For more information about the vineyard check out their website (https://www.oldtowniawines.com/) where, if you have a fifth wheel or camper van, you can also book an overnight stay with them since they are a Harvest Host. In addition, visit their Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/OldTownIAwines) to stay current on their upcoming events.

Finally, Old Town Vineyard has been able to acquire four acres of land over the years, and now produces nine varieties of wine. With that much land you’ll have lots to do if you book your event here, and even more if you stay overnight.

Hours of Operation:
Mon – Wed: Closed
Thursday: 5pm to 9pm
Friday: 5pm to 10pm
Saturday: 2pm to 10pm

2. Stables at Copper Ridge

The second stop on our wedding venue tour, but one of my most favorites, is the Stables at Copper Ridge in Denison, Iowa. I love the story, the architecture and landscape, and don’t forget about the stained-glass window salvaged from the demolition of a local church. With so many photo-ops on their 43 acres of land, you’ll have pictures for days and memories for a lifetime. But be sure to book your event sooner than later because Zoey, the event coordinator, informed me they had 56 events just this year, so spots fill up fast!

Able to host 560 guests, this event venue is perfect for the couple planning a very large wedding. And with a suitable and reasonable rental fee of $6,500 for the entire weekend, this should be on your list of venue options if you want to have that epic gathering.

For more information regarding rental options, check out their website (https://stablesatcopperridge.com/), and to see how other couples have decorated their weddings, visit their Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/laura.stables65/) and Instagram account (https://www.instagram.com/the_stables_at_copper_ridge/?hl=en)

3. Stone Brú

Love coffee so much you can see yourself getting married surrounded by its aroma? Check out the newest event venue in our wedding series. It is exciting to see this locally loved business acquire such a loyal following, that it virtually catapults their success smack dab in the fast lane. And there’s no stopping owners Brad and Nick. They have plans to expand and even partner with other locally owned small businesses.

With the capacity to seat 150 people, this would be the prefect venue for a moderately sized wedding. Open to the public throughout the week from 8:00 a.m. to Noon, Stone Brú Roastery is currently closed on weekends to accommodate for its high demand of event space rental and general inquiries.

Couples renting with Stone Brú Roastery are allowed to bring in their own alcohol and food vendor, and if you would like more information on booking with Stone Brú, visit their website (https://www.stoneBrú.com/). In addition, make sure to head over to their Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/stoneBrú/) for weekly specials, and check out their Instagram account (https://www.instagram.com/stoneBrúcoffee/?hl=en) for inspiration.

4. Siouxland (STF) Expo Center

With a temperature-controlled arena and a 2,000 square-foot banquet room, this would be an ideal location to hold a sports-related wedding. You could have your ceremony outside on the patio, go inside for some food and drinks, have fun on the dance floor, and then head out to the turf for an evening full of action.

Rental fees for the banquet room do not include access to the indoor field, so you will have to look into what purchase agreement you want. You are not required, however, to rent their entire 80,000 square-foot arena, unless you want to. Instead, you can rent portions of the field and set up batting cages, play flag football, or even organize a game of softball. With the space to fit an entire football field, the options are endless.

Current rental fees are $800 for the banquet room (which is a steal y’all!) and has a capacity for 240 people, add on an additional $150 for the bar, and you’re all set. Bring in your caterer of choice, then look into how much it cost to rent a portion of the turf. Generally, you’re looking at $35 dollars to $350 dollars per hour depending on how much of the field you want access to, and what time of year you’ll be having your event. If you want to splurge a little, you can rent the entire field for a day at the cost of $4,500 dollars.

For more information regarding their party packages, check out their website (https://stfexpocenter.com/), and go on over to their Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/STFExpoCenter) for upcoming events you may want to attend. This will give you a special awareness of how large the facility is, allowing you to make your decision a little easier. Opening only two years ago, the Siouxland Expo Center has been host to over 1500 events, so spots fill up fast!

5. Marriott Riverfront

If you are wanting a venue with a view that also doubles as a place to stay after your big day, then look no further than the Marriott Riverfront in South Sioux City, Nebraska. After your busy day of planning, and your wedding party has exhausted all their energy, what better way to end the night than to be able to simply saunter upstairs to relax in your suite and decompress in the hot tub?

The two rooms which the Marriott rents out for events are the Grand Ballroom which sits 600, and the Terrace Ballroom which allows for a smaller gathering of 120 guests. Or, if you would like to have your ceremony outside, you are welcome to the Monterey patio with the capacity for about 100 guests.

Once the ceremony is over, move inside for the reception where you’ll be pleasantly delighted to know that the locally owned Kahill’s Chophouse caters your event. One of only three prime steakhouses in the Siouxland area, you will be treated to some of the best food you’ve ever had.

To keep up to date on what the South Sioux City Marriott Bonvoy has planned check out their Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/MarriottSSCRiverfront), and visit their website (https://www.marriott.com/en-us/hotels/suxmc-south-sioux-city-marriott-riverfront/overview/?scid=f2ae0541-1279-4f24-b197-a979c79310b0) for even rental and contact info.

6. Oscar Carl Vineyard

If you find yourself wanting a vintage, yet slightly upscale venue for your event, then consider Oscar Carl Vineyard. Your guests will be able to experience a wine flight like I did! With your choice of four wines, this gives you a chance to try different styles of wine without having to commit to a full 9-ounce glass. In addition, make sure you come hungry and order a Roberto’s Pizza. Operated out of Dunlap, Iowa, this company specializes in making quality frozen pizzas for not only the grocery store, but also partnering up with local businesses all over Siouxland.

Personally, I wouldn’t mind having frozen pizza at my wedding, since I am more of a realist and enjoy the simple pleasures of just having friends and family in one place, but if you were wanting something more practical then look at Oscar Carl’s wedding packages via their website (https://oscarcarlvineyard.com/). Rental fees range anywhere from $50-$250 per hour depending on what room, which day and how many guests you plan to have attend your event.

And finally, be sure to check out their Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/OscarCarlVineyard) and Instagram account (https://www.instagram.com/oscarcarlvineyard/?hl=en) for weekly specials and maybe even look into holding your bachelorette party here. I’ve been seeing a lot of “Paint on the Patio” social events that look like so much fun!

7. Blue Haven Barn and The Atrium

Next on our list of wedding venues is a two-for-one! Blue Haven Barn and The Atrium were built by the husband-and-wife team, Josh and Amanda Nelson after they were on the hunt for a place to host their wedding. Not really happy with anything she came across in the Sioux Falls area, Amanda saw there was an opportunity to improve the wedding venue scene in her area.

Blue Haven Barn

The Atrium

Built out of frustration, but also capitalizing on an opportunity to present a far superior venue location than anyone else in the Sioux Falls area, Amanda and Josh have created a multi-venue establishment. Capable of seating up to 300 guests, Blue Haven Barn has that perfect elegant setting with a touch of rustic. And for those larger weddings, The Atrium can seat up to 500, with additional outdoor terraced seating overlooking the manmade pond.

Rental fees vary depending on if you want the venue for one day or the entire weekend, an open bar or selected drink menu, and which caterer you would like to work with. Out of all the venues we visited this month, Blue Haven Barn and The Atrium have to take the cake on having the most options available to meet the needs of their community.

To inquire about renting one or both of these venues, and to setup a tour visit their websites (https://www.bluehavenbarn.com/) and (https://www.theatriumatbluehaven.com/). Then head over to their Instagram accounts (https://www.instagram.com/bluehavenbarn/?hl=en) and (https://www.instagram.com/theatriumatbluehaven/?hl=en) for more professional photography. And finally, check out their Facebook pages (https://www.facebook.com/bluehavenbarn) and (https://www.facebook.com/theatriumatbluehaven/) for wedding day design ideas.

8. Canton Barn

Prior to touring this venue, I could never see myself getting married in a barn, but after standing in this 100-year-old structure, I can now see the possibilities. With the capacity to seat 300 guests, this is a fairly moderately-sized venue for your event.

Not getting married soon? Or if you’re like me and you’re already married, then head on over to their Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/Thecantonbarn) where they post updates on upcoming gatherings, such as a Peaky Blinders themed Saint Patty’s Day party. How cool is that!?

And finally, check out their website (https://thecantonbarnllc.com/) for a gallery full of beautiful celebrations, and while you’re there check out more details on hosting your event here. Need an added incentive to book with the Canton Barn? How does a 10% voucher off any full-priced gown at Ellie Stone gown sound? Located in Sioux Falls, this bridal gallery has partnered with the Canton Barn to make your day even more memorable.

9. Kings Pointe Waterpark and Resort

Situated on the northeast corner of the lake, Kings Pointe Waterpark and Resort allows guests an amazing view of the 3,000-acre lake and beyond. In addition to the hotel, there are also lakeside cabins with beautifully maintained landscaping. Called “Sunrise Cottages”, each one sleeps up to eight people, and also comes complete with an outdoor grill, private patio and a full kitchen.

During our tour Trisha, the events director, showed us the outdoor lawn where most ceremonies are performed, and has a beautiful lakefront backdrop, then we moved in doors to the ball room which seats 270 guests. On-site catering is available for your event, and the culinary team is ready and willing to meet with you about budgeting and guest count. So, be sure to check out their website (https://www.kingspointeresort.com/) for more information. In addition, head on over to their Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/KingsPointeResort/) for weekly specials and updates to their events schedule.

So, while you’re looking at locations to get married, consider Kings Pointe Resort and Waterpark. Personally, I love event spaces that also double as a destination getaway for everyone. And your friends and family will thank you for the chance to sit back and relax with you on your special day.

10. Ponca State Park

Our last stop on our tour of wedding venues in the Siouxland area, but the only one located in the great state of Nebraska. Ponca State Park is an amazingly beautiful treasure located just half an hour east of Sioux City. A place where you can stretch your legs and enjoy nature, this venue is the perfect destination for couples wanting a quiet retreat and reprieve from city life.

Comprising of 2,400 miles of wilderness, Ponca State Park has some of the most scenic views of Loess Hills you’ll come across in your journey of Siouxland. And on your drive you’ll come across primitive campsites, to fully furnished cabins; 27 of them being year-round! Personally, I love the idea of having your wedding here, then driving your “just married” go cart up the hill to your honeymoon suite, and maybe even having some close friends and family rent out the surrounding cabins to make it a cozy little neighborhood of mischief and exploration.

And after your big day, enjoy a mini-honeymoon here in the park with horseback riding, fishing, golfing, kayaking, and if you book in the fall, maybe even a hayrack ride! There is truly so much to do in Ponca State Park, and the best part is that you’re out of the city with little to no light pollution, allowing you to admire the beautiful stars after the sun sets.

To keep yourself up to date on upcoming events at and around the park, check out their Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/PoncaStateParkNE), and for event rental info visit their website (http://outdoornebraska.gov/ponca/). With the capacity to seat 300 guests, this has become one of the premier wedding destinations for couples getting married in the Siouxland area.

Let’s get the party started!

Traversing all around Siouxland and hitting locations in Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota, I am pleased to say that I know more about the area I live in, and now I can recommend a multitude of venues to soon-to-be wedded couples. I also hope this tour has helped you realize that you don’t need to travel across the country for that perfect location. You can find a unique venue of your dreams without the price tag associated with bigger cities.

In addition, when you keep your radius close to home, you are able to support local businesses and allow your money to remain within the surrounding communities. I can’t wait to see where you’ll have your wedding, and I hope this has helped you realize what possibilities are at your fingertips.

Happy Planning!
