Out of all the restaurants featured this month, this is the newest, the most I’m excited about, and the closest to my house. My husband and I have been here multiple times since they have opened in January of this year.
fan favorite
My husband, our teenage kids, and I myself, are HUGE fans of sushi and Japanese food. For over a month we would drive by salivating, waiting for the remodel to finish. There has been a handful of restaurants that have come and go in this location, but we strongly believe this restaurant has finally filled the void, and will definitely be well accepted by the community.
our initial visit
On our first visit, we came very hungry. As a preface, when my husband and I know we want to try a new restaurant, we make sure we have the funds to at least try one drink each, one appetizer to share, our meals and a dessert. We also stave off eating anything after breakfast, so we arrive hungry and energized about a new menu to learn.
Walking in we loved the bamboo-looking shades drawn down on the windows, and the 6-foot tall room dividers breaking up the large dining room. We arrived right before dinner time, so we could spend a good amount of time enjoying our experience. Soon after, however, the dining room began to fill up, so we were glad we came early.
our unending love for Japanese food
Once we sat down, opened our menus, Tyler, our waitress, greeted us, and I ordered a glass of merlot, and my husband ordered hot raspberry Saki. Returning with our drinks, we ordered scallops, fried yams, and an eel sushi roll to share, and our meals. I got a chicken dinner bento box, and my husband got the beef dinner bento box.
We had so much food! But we made sure to not over eat, and set leftovers off to the side, so we could enjoy some dessert. And I have been waiting for this dessert for years. This is mochi ice cream, a rice dough encapsulating a ball of ice cream. I remember, while attending the University of South Dakota, my Japanese friends introduced me to mochi over fifteen years ago, and since then it has become one of the foods I can’t get enough of.
becoming repeat customers
Overall, we fell in love this local business, the warm and welcoming staff, and its convenient location. With it being so close to our house, we may need intervention. In addition, for being open for only three months, we were surprised when our waitress, Tyler, informed us she already has regulars, as she pointed to a family of four. We both agreed, that after experiencing wonderful service from her, we will make sure to ask for her again.
