Hello! As you can tell I took the month of August off from blogging. I had a family trip planned, and wanted to focus on spending time with my loved ones without having to be torn between what I was going to write about before and after my vacation. And honestly, it was nice to just relax my mind, and recharge for this next segment we will be exploring.

For the month of September, I want to feature various places around Sioux City where you may be able to get some of your grocery items. With prices going up, I want to showcase a selected few spots you can shop at, and maybe even help you think outside the box for your next family-favorite dish.

If you remember on our Asian food tour, we visited a handful of different grocery stores around town. Hong Kong Supermarket, Great Wall Asian Food Store, and even a Filipino snack stop inside Mateo’s restaurant in Sergeant Bluff. But this month we are going to explore even more grocery stores and places to shop for your foodstuffs.

Places like the Farmers’ Market, which is available to Siouxlanders from May to October. During these five months, patrons can enjoy a variety of vendors selling homemade crafts, bee farmers and their honey, and local butchers offering a variety of different cuts of meats. And of course, nearby produce farmers with their fruits and veggies, along with my personal favorite their many jams and jellies!

Throughout the years there have been food trucks such as Coffee & Nosh and Brightside Café feeding hungry patrons. In fact, eating breakfast at the Farmer’s Market on a picnic table is one the best experiences you can enjoy during the inviting summer days. If people watching is something you like, then come on a busy Saturday morning, and you’ll have throngs of people to chose from, and being that the Farmer’s Market is pet friendly don’t be surprised if you make a four-legged friend.

Vendors who participate in the Farmer’s Market change every year, so make sure to visit the Sioux City Farmer’s Market website (https://www.farmersmarketsiouxcity.com/) for an updated schedule, and find your next favorite family-owned business to support. Also keep up to date with their Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/SiouxCityFarmersMarket), which features live and local bands, special events, as well as weekly giveaways.

Finally, remember the Farmers’ Market is not open year-round, so keep an eye on the dates, and look forward to shopping local and meeting amazing business owners from all across Siouxland. Hope to see you there!

P.S. Can you believe these are brussels sprouts?! Ya learn something new every day.
