When I first moved to Sioux City in 2007, Da Kao was one of only a handful of restaurants that nearly everyone I met recommended that I try. In fact, while I settled into my first apartment on Jackson Street, I decided to order delivery. From that day forward, I would go on to order from them nearly monthly for years to come.
Going strong over 25 years later
Located across the street from Lessman Lighting on West 7th Street, Da Kao opened its doors in 1994, and has since become one of the most recognized establishments in Sioux City. This restaurant should be on your list if you are visiting us in the near future and want to try authentic Vietnamese cuisine. And personally, it is on our monthly radar when my family looks for some quality takeout.

However, you are more than welcome to dine-in, which my husband and I do often. Just recently, we took our teenage son, Armand, with us, and he wasn’t sure about trying new food, but our server happened to be one of his high school friends, who proceeded to basically order for Armand. “This is the best. It’s one of my favorites”, he said, and our son, not familiar with the menu, ended up speechless by the flavors of this beef dish.
From then on, Armand keeps mentioning going back, and it’s hard to deny him since Da Kao happens to be less than two miles from our house. Convenient, and a trusted name in our household, we love trying something new every time we order.
Best Pho in town!
Becoming more familiar with the menu, in the past year, I stepped out of my comfort zone and tried their rare steak and tripe Pho soup. Oh, my goodness! This hearty soup is a perfect cure against the cold, brisk wintery days.

As of right now, they are closed due to COVID-19, but when they reopen back to normal operating hours, we will be one of the first patrons to walk through their doors. They have never let us down, and we will certainly continue to show our support.
