I would like to send a personal thank you out to Yankton for being a tremendously accessible city, full of beauty, history and art. I enjoyed my three days here far more than I expected, and I gained even more knowledge about this iconic South Dakotan town from my research throughout this month-long adventure.
So much more to do
When friends and family come to visit, I now have a week-long itinerary, and an endless supply of local businesses to patron. I plan on making multiple visits to Yankton in the next year, since I’m helping a friend plan her wedding, and we already came up with a handful of party ideas, half of them in Yankton!
Bishop Marty Chapel Mead Cultural Museum
I’m looking forward to go-kart racing and mini-golf at Karttrax’s and replacing all those burned-off calories at Charlie’s Pizza House.
Meridian Bridge
Riverboat Days 2020!
In addition, my husband and I are going back up to Yankton for Riverboat Days this coming August for his birthday. We plan to visit several downtown businesses, including Ben’s Brewing, Boston Shoes to Boots, The Icehouse, and finally Boomer’s.
We’ll also enjoy the sculpture walk, and a return to the Meridian Bridge. This time, I won’t forget to experience the lower level!
Lewis & Clark Visitors Center Gavins Point Dam
Finally, we’ll have more time to enjoy Lewis and Clark Lake. Renting bikes looks like the best way to explore all 30 miles of trails in and around Yankton.
Downtown Meridian District
To be continued…
I can just see myself now with my Indiana Jones hat and a map. Our adventure awaits, and I’ll have to feature Yankton again on my blog, since I know I’ll have another month’s worth of material to write about.
