I was hesitant to drive all the way out to Norfolk, Nebraska since it is a two-hour drive from Sioux City, but I have heard very good things about this pumpkin patch especially. Their social media presence and Facebook account (https://www.facebook.com/poppyspumpkin) are very well maintained, posting almost daily during the Fall season keeping guests updated on upcoming changes.
Third on my list to visit this season, Poppy’s pumpkin patch is the largest of all five I visited in September and October. Driving two hours in light misting rain, I was determined to make the trek, and I’m glad I did, because when I arrived there was a school bus full of grade school kids visiting from a nearby school. Meaning, I was serenaded by gleeful screams the entire time of my visit.
Worth the drive
Paying the entrance fee, I grabbed a map and made my way around. The details in all the buildings are quite possibly unmatched. I really loved the creativity, and there were multiple craft rooms along the way. My husband and I are in the process of downgrading, so I don’t have any need for homemade crats, but this trip made me wish I had the extra wall space for all this homemade art. Personally, I love the Christmas ideas because you can always plan for next year, and give an amazingly well-made gift at the next holiday party.
Coffee-time and Play-time
They even have a café on premises, where they sell pecan pie, coffee and hot chili on those brisk Autumn days. For more information about what’s on the menu, visit their website (https://www.poppyspumpkinpatch.com/).
Also on the property were a giant slide, a zip line, vantage points so you could see the property from above, an awesome haunted forest, lots of photo opportunities, interactive playgrounds, and a well-maintained petting zoo.
In all, I’m so glad I made the drive out to Norfolk, explored this especially expansive terrain, and on my way out I even grabbed a coffee mug for my cousin, Rosie. This will definitely be a spot I plan on visiting again, but hopefully during better weather conditions.
