Not exactly serving coffee, the product Livengoodies sells pairs very well with hot beverages, such as coffee. In addition, this is the only company on my coffee tour this month where I have actually not been to their physical establishment. Instead, I have seen Sheli Livengood’s products in local coffee shops and craft fairs.
However, this past Christmas I also found Livengoodies at a popup shop in downtown Sioux City. To promote small businesses Downtown Partners encouraged patrons to get out on Small Business Saturdays, and show their support.
Pop into this small business on Saturdays
So, one of those Small Business Saturdays, I made my way down to Sheli’s popup shop on Nebraska Street. Not knowing that she also makes puffed popcorn and sugar-coated pecans, I bought a bag of each, along with two hot chocolate bombs, one for me and one for my husband.
A few weeks later, and needing some stocking stuffer ideas, I returned to purchase four more as Christmas gifts. And I guess everyone else had the same idea, since they sold out within one hour of opening their doors!
Their hot chocolate is bomb!
Learning about hot chocolate bombs has made my winter much more enjoyable, and my husband gets a kick out of watching the bomb “explode”. The “explosion” is the result of hot water, milk or coffee being slowly poured over the hardened chocolate mold encasement, thus resulting in its melting and releasing the contents.
Floating to the top are a dozen miniature marshmallows and a dry mixture of hot cocoa. With all that Ghirardelli chocolate, this has to be one of the richest textured hot chocolate beverages I’ve ever had. But Sheli makes more than just hot chocolate bombs. In addition to popcorn and pecan snacks, she also makes “Glitter Bombs”, candy baskets, homemade ice cream, and even artisan breads.
Show your support
Currently, Sheli is operating a popup shop here in Sioux City on most Saturday mornings, but she also has her bakery in Onawa. With the next holidays being St. Patrick’s Day and then Easter, I can just imagine the creativity put into the next hot chocolate bomb for patrons to enjoy.
Contact Sheli on her Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/livengoodies) to place an order, or also call her at (712) 431-0021. Unbelievably, she is doing most of this out of her house, but is currently looking for a storefront, and I want to be there on her grand opening! So, this my friends, is a true small business, and I invite you to show your support for the creativity Sheli and her team put into each product.
