Ever wanted to find a way to merge your favorite dessert with your favorite cocktail? Well, Intoxibakes is at your rescue! This locally owned establishment was started by Holly Boltjes, her daughter Josie, and her daughter-in-law Shannon, who I met when my friend introduced me to this amazing business.

Baking a variety of 48 different flavors, some alcoholic, and some non-alcoholic, these three ladies are continuously coming up with new combinations. Not needing a liquor license since there is only a couple teaspoons of alcohol per batch, patrons, however, still need to be at least 21 or older to purchase, just to be safe. In addition, whatever alcohol content there is in the recipe actually burns away during the cooking process, leaving an impressively identical flavor to the real deal.
For example, I tried their old fashioned, and yep, it tasted exactly like Makers Mark, or their cinnamon vanilla rum reminded me of one of my all-time favorites, RumChata. Wanting to not skip over any of their creative concoctions, I opted for a full dozen, allowing me to sample twelve different varieties on my initial visit.
In addition to baking illegal cupcakes, these three fine ladies are also capable of making the show-stopping cake for your next event. In all, my husband really enjoyed this unique treat I brought back with me, in fact, he’s begun to expect something every time I make my journey up to Sioux Falls, which I may need to go back just for these delicacies. And maybe next time they’ll have twelve different flavors for me to try, being that they have 48 and counting, the options could be endless.
