Once again, Downtown Partners ignited the holiday spirit by ushering in the festive season with the much-anticipated Downtown for the Holidays! The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Local 231, presented the annual Downtown Holiday Lighted Parade on Monday, November 20th, at 6:15 PM. It was an evening filled with twinkling lights, community spirit, and boundless cheer.

The Lighted Parade and Festive Beginnings

The jovial parade commenced its journey at Iowa Street, weaving along the enchanting path of 4th Street and culminating its journey at Nebraska Street. The highlight of the evening was the gathering in front of the Sioux City Public Museum, where the community congregated to witness the majestic tree lighting, signaling the official commencement of the holiday season.

Among the array of floats and participants, familiar names and beloved local entities graced the parade route. Gil Hauling, Camp High Hopes, KTIV news station, and Council Oak were some of the crowd’s favorite entries, captivating the audience with their festive displays and infectious holiday spirit.

November 20th marked the kickoff of a series of joyous activities. Everyone was cordially invited to partake in a diverse range of events, including the opportunity to meet Santa Claus, indulge in the Festival of Trees auction, and revel in the magic of the holiday lighted parade.

The Force Behind the Celebration

A monumental effort goes into orchestrating such a grand celebration, and Craig Levine from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 231 expressed the group’s deep commitment to contributing to this event each year.

“We enjoyed it very much; giving back to the community puts you in the holiday spirit, and it’s a fun parade. If you ever want to come out and experience it, it’s a great time,” Levine remarked.

The Downtown for the Holidays event encapsulated the essence of community, joy, and festive merriment. As the parade illuminated Sioux City streets, hearts were warmed, and smiles illuminated faces, signifying the joyous arrival of the holiday season.
