Looking to spruce up your front porch or add some pizazz to your backyard landscaping? Think lawn and garden is something your neighbors only do in the Spring and Summer? Wanting to decorate for the holidays? Then come on over to Bloomers in South Sioux City. Obviously, since they are a lawn and garden center, flowers and plants are in abundance during the warmer months, but did you know they are open year-round? And there is a lot to see.
Growth from the ground up
Starting their business after realizing there was a want from local Siouxlanders, Dave and Renee Palmersheim have been steadily adding to their ever-growing business. Beginning with pool and spa installation and repair, then landscaping and design, and eventually a gift shop with something for everyone, Dave and Renee have transformed their business into a one-of-a-kind local treasure.
Siouxland Garden Show and the Spring Craft Fair
Throughout the years I’ve seen them at the Siouxland Garden Show, at various craft fairs around town, and I’ve especially noticed them growing their online presence. With as many photo ops they have on site, it’s no wonder they’re constantly posting updates on Facebook. Along with the obvious plant and flower pictures from their greenhouse, Bloomers also posts about their wall art, wind chimes and metal garden fixtures.
Lots to see!
When you make your visit, you’ll find lawn gnomes, stepping stones, patio furniture, and bird baths. There are giant figurines greeting you upon arrival, and miniature fairy gardens as you weave your way amongst trinkets and toys. And I love that Dave and Renee have done their best to buy local, and support American-made products.
Planning my visit during late Fall, I caught the very last of what pumpkins and scarecrows were left, but for the most part, Christmas has arrived at Bloomers! I immediately felt the holiday cheer while being surrounded by tinsel and pinecones. They seriously have everything here that you would want for your next Christmas party, or gift exchange.
Check off your Christmas list!
Snowmen, advent calendars, wreathes, and, of course, Santas in every shape and size are in abundance. Plus, buying from a small business not only supports our community, but many of these items are not mass-produced. Meaning, you won’t be embarrassed when you show up with the same gift everyone else has seen on all the big box store shelves.
Whether it’s a White Elephant Christmas party, birthday celebration or a neighborhood block party, your unique gift will aim to make you the MVP for the day. In addition, there are remembrance stepping stones, heartfelt gifts for those who have lost a loved one, and Corinthian Bells to add a subtle but soothing sound to your day.
Plan your visit
Once my husband and I complete more of our home remodel, I will definitely be coming back to Bloomers for some curb appeal inspiration. And now that our front porch is finished, I’m already thinking about patio furniture, and maybe some hanging plants to usher in next year’s Spring season.
