Situated on the county lines between Woodbury and Plymouth, on County Road K22, and tucked away up a winding gravel road, sits one of the cutest gift shops you’ll find in Siouxland. I first head of Empty Nest Gifts after seeing one of their commercials on the local tv channel. I then proceeded to look them up on Facebook. It was like finding a new treasure box, and I was more than excited to make my way out there the next day.
Off the beaten path
Paying close attention while driving there the next morning, I almost missed my turn. And coming upon this quaint log cabin in the woods made me feel like I was about to uncover a hidden gem. Which is what I found after walking in the front door.
Lining the shelves were more trinkets, art and novelty items I had never seen in any gift shop before. Handmade jewelry, locally made candles and jellies, and hundreds of gift ideas surrounded me. I love how each display is set up to compliment and showcase each retail item Camille sells.
Something for everyone
Owner, Camille Liudahl, has owned and operated this unique gift shop for the past fourteen years. Being selective on what products she features in her store, she has everything from dog treats to magnets, and lamps to kitchen towels.
Beyond the main staircase is a secluded room dedicated solely to children’s clothes and toys. And after climbing the staircase to the upper level, you’ll find two rooms full of sweaters, skirts and scarfs. One room is clearanced, and the other is full of the latest fashions.
