Opening her storefront fifteen years ago, Lou Ann Lindblade has created herself a unique little gift shop in the heart of Sioux City. From selling gifts made only in Siouxland, to supporting various small businesses and artists all across the Midwest and beyond, Lou Ann has grown her business into a must-see for visitors looking for that one-of-a-kind souvenir.
Tourist in my own town
I first came across Sioux City Gifts after dropping my dry-cleaning off at Davenport Cleaners, then walking next door to Pierce Street Coffee Works. Looking up, and reading out loud “Sioux City Gifts…Wow! That’s cool”, as I continued to talk to myself. I stopped in, looked around, and immediately knew I had stumbled upon a hidden gem, which I continued to frequent several times throughout the years.
Since my initial visit ten years ago, I’ve purchased coffee mugs, magnets, books, t-shirts, ornaments, and kitchen towels. This past Christmas, I decided to do most of my shopping here for my entire family and friends. From sending Sioux City snack packs to family in Illinois and Texas, to gifting a flask to my Secret Santa, everyone on my list was guaranteed originality.
Small businesses are the backbone of our community
On one of my most recent visits to Sioux City Gifts, Lou Ann told me she supports over thirty small businesses nationwide, from art and jewelry, to candles and soaps. She also told me she has never stepped foot in a Walmart, and never will. That is dedication! She insists on keeping her money local, and supporting her fellow neighborhood entrepreneurs.
Therefore, every time you patron her gift shop, you are helping to provide financial assistance to these artists and creators, which she has selectively chosen to partner with. In fact, every item she sells in her store you can find on her website (https://siouxcitygifts.com/). In addition to purchasing from her directly on her website, you can also ship any gift you’d like, making birthdays, graduations and even anniversaries just as memorable, especially if you can’t be there due to certain circumstances.
Plan your visit
Adding a touch of home and ingenuity to your gift giving game this year, Sioux City Gifts is here to help. I even found something for my 18-year-old stepson! Some of Lucy & Woody’s men’s lotion, because he is always looking to soothe his dry hands, but doesn’t quite like all the girly options I give him.
So, I ask you to look outside the familiar retailers, shop local, and buy something your friends and family members would not expect, and would never be able to find if it wasn’t for little neighborhood shops like this one.
Finally, check out Sioux City Gifts Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/SiouxCityGifts/), where Lou Ann and her team are constantly posting about the products they sell, giving you much to consider for the next holiday.

How did I not know this shop was here close by my favorite coffee shop? I must find it & look at the possibilities. Thanks, Kelly!
