Mazing Acres

We barely made it! But I was determined to go to all five pumpkin patches this season, and knowing that most close on the day after Halloween, I hurried to make it to Yankton. Driving up on October 30^th, my husband and I took advantage of the beautiful weather, and made the hour-long drive up to one of my most favorite towns in all of Siouxland.

What a gourd-ous day!

What I most liked about this pumpkin patch is that they had an ongoing scarecrow competition that you could vote for. My personal favorite was BY Electric because I loved how they built their scarecrow onto a small-scale electric pole. And my husband’s favorite was Academy of Dance, since their scarecrow reminded him of Ursula from The Little Mermaid.

With over 30 attractions, it’s no wonder Mazing Acres was the busiest out of all the pumpkin patches we visited this year! My husband enjoyed playing with the duckies on the water slide, and admiring the scary Halloween decorations around the property. There was an awesome obstacle course, lots of interactive playgrounds, a 150ft mega slide, zip-line, and a well-designed maze. Standing outside the maze was an attendant to ensure you got your map and wouldn’t lose your way.

I noticed there was not a petting zoo, craft barn or haunted house, but this was because out of all the pumpkin patches in the area, this one is the newest. Recently built, they are expanding every season, and have plans for future growth, including remodels and add-ons. With the prospect of this ever-changing property and landscape, I know I will have to make a repeat visit to check out all the improvements.
