Of all the years I’ve live in Sioux City, I’ve always lived close by the Country Club. I’ve been to one event here, and it was absolutely beautiful. Beyond classy, this would be the perfect setting for an elegant wedding personalized with fine dining.
history of excellence
Built in 1908, and being the longest running country club in Sioux City, the staff here have had years of practice, and have proven they obviously know what they’re doing. With over 100 years of experience, your day will be in the hands of professionals.
Out of all the venues on my list the Country Club has the most rental options for your event. With four selections to choose from, they are able to accommodate your budget and style, whether you’re planning a small gathering or large celebration.
In addition, the Country Club has the most detailed catering menu I’ve ever seen. You can choose from a buffet setting, to selecting a four-course meal. For those brides who have a large budget at their expense, and want to impress, having your wedding here will definitely make a statement.
Radiating with historical elegance, the Country Club offers a unique and sophisticated rustic setting for your event unlike any other.
the convenience of having your wedding here
Offering outdoor amenities as well, this would be one of the best places to have an outdoor Spring or Summer wedding. And an added plus, you are allowed access to a golf cart, in which you can ride around surveying the landscape. This would open up so many possibilities for your photographer!
Your guests will enjoy the views of the Country Club grounds from the outdoor balconies, looking through vintage photographs of this century-old facility, and enjoying the craftmanship of the hand-carved wood fixtures.
For those brides who want a hands-free approach to decorating, the Country Club offers their complimentary services, which include table décor! You may choose from their selection of centerpieces, mix-and-match your decorations with theirs, or simply use your own creations.
Event setup and takedown are included in your rental, as are table, chairs, linens, china, and flatware. Bar staff are made available for your event, however, outside beverages are not permitted, with the exception of wine, which will include a cork fee of $20.00 dollars per bottle.
the ballroom
Now let’s look at each room. To start, I met up with Lauren, the events director, and she guided me through the facility. Able to seat up to 250 people, the Ballroom is chic and trendy. This open space is surrounded with bordering windows on each side, letting the most light in as possible, and making your wedding look both polished and modern.
formal room
The event I attended years ago was in the Formal Room. More enclosed than the Ballroom, and surrounded by hand-carved wood features, this space seats up to 50 guests. This would be perfect for couples who are wanting a more intimate setting, or maybe a ten-year anniversary celebration. Unfortunately, I was not able to get a good picture of this area since they were finishing cleaning up after a morning meeting.
outdoor patio
Inviting you to enjoy the view of the golf course is the Outdoor Patio. Just like the Formal Room, this also seats fifty. With an added plus of an unspoiled open-air experience, your guests will enjoy a colorful Spring filled with fresh blooming flowers, or a sunshine-filled Summer full of excitement.
board room
Lastly, we have the Board Room. Just with the Formal Room, staff were performing a tear down from the previous event, so again, I’m unable to provide you with a proper picture of this area. However small, this room seats 25 people, perfect for a bridal shower, or even a bachelor party. Just imagine your bridesmaids, and all your best girlfriends, in their sundresses, enjoying light hors d’oeuvres while you unwrap your gifts. Or for the groom who wants a more relaxed yet swanky setting for his bachelor party, this would be the perfect place for a private event.
rental fees
The cost to rent differs in price for each room, and which day of the week you are planning your event.
- Ballroom: $500 (Sun – Thur) / $1500 (Fri – Sat)
- Formal Room: $150 (Sun – Thur) / $300 (Fri – Sat)
- Board Room: $100 (Sun – Thur) / $250 (Fri – Sat)
- Outdoor Patio: $100 (Sun – Thur) / $250 (Fri – Sat)
Keep in mind, however, what time of year you are planning your event. An interruption due to weather happens to everyone, so your event may be moved inside, and if this happens, the Country Club is prepared, and will accommodate accordingly.
want more information?
There is much more information to review regarding renting the Country Club for your wedding or event, including deposits, cancellations, and service charges. Your cost to rent also depends on if you prefer a buffet style setting, or a fancy four-course dinner.
If you are wanting more information, and need your questions answered, I recommend emailing the Country Club. Reaching out via email was quite easy, and I received a response within a few days, and setup my tour the next day. Lauren was very resourceful, and able to answer all my questions.
additional rooms
During my tour she also showed me the Lounge, Dining Room and Men’s Card Room. I asked if couples were able to rent these spaces out as well, and she said that would be feasible, but the cost of rental fees were unclear, and would have to be documented at a later date if guests wanted to reserve these spaces.
incentives of a membership
Limited to private gatherings only, the Country Club is a members-only golf club. I can see the advantages of this, after working years in the restaurant business. Only those who have a membership are invited to Valentine’s Day dinners, social events, and even Halloween parties. This would be the ultimate approach to avoid the large crowds, but still be able to enjoy the holiday festivities.
If you do not have a membership, you can always reach out to someone who does, and accompany them to an upcoming event. Thus, allowing yourself to become acquainted with the property, and even contemplate your own membership. In fact, there are several different levels of membership, depending on if you want to simply socialize, or consider yourself a golf enthusiast.
Perks of membership do not just extend to your dining experience, but also Kids Kamp during the Summer, Tennis lessons, an Olympic-sized swimming pool, a 3,000 square-foot recreation area, and even yoga classes.
memorabilia and art
All around the property are golf souvenirs and awards, including trips to the Omaha Country Club, and even all the way to Ireland! In addition, Lauren informed me that much of the art displayed on the walls are actually from her father’s private collection.
plan your visit
Finally, learn more about their upcoming social events via their Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/sccc1908/), and learn more about the amenities offered as well as view professional photos of the property via their website (https://www.sccountryclub.com/)
So, if you plan to have your wedding here, maybe consider a membership after your event, and continue your contribution to this local business.
Happy Planning!
