On my Christmas list almost every year is to make a visit to Acme Comics. Both my husband and my teenage son are into vintage game posters, superhero figurines, and board games. In fact, my husband happens to have a small collection of very valuable first edition comic books, and lots of Star Wars toys that he would love to have on display eventually.
So, on this eventful day, I decided to take my husband shopping with me, and we stopped in to Acme Comics for about half an hour. Sometimes, I secretly bring him with me so I can gage what he really likes, then I go back later and purchase that one item he showed the most interest in.
Wall to wall!
I was surprised at the number of comics this store has! From original prints to new spins on cult classics, there’s something for everyone. I really liked the 3D models hanging from the ceiling, and I’d love to get a Tie Fighter rendition for my husband, or even a cardboard cutout of one of my son’s favorite games. I even spotted one of our favorite games to play at home, Munchkins!
We found so many gift ideas here, and I’m glad I took my husband with me, since I’m not big into comic books, in fact, I’ve never read one in my entire life, but I know it means a lot to my husband. There are some which remind him of his childhood, so watching him reminisce was all worth it. After following him around I took notice a handful of comics he showed interest in, then went back the next day and bought them for his Christmas present.
Don’t miss out on these important holidays!
After being in business for over twenty-four years, I feel a sense of accomplishment supporting this local business which has made a difference in so many people’s lives over the past two decades. What’s more, is Acme holds their annual Free Comic Book day on August 14th, opening up their doors to the community, and encouraging young readers to pick up their next favorite comic book, and start their own journey of discovering the greats.
And we cannot forget about Star Wars Day, May 4th. People travel from all over to show support on this most epic day of the year in early Spring. And event goers dress up in all sorts of costumes, from heros to villians, socializing with fellow collectors and movie buffs, and maybe even a celebrity!
Plan your visit
I know after making our visit here, we both got ideas on how to design my husband’s display case, and maybe we’ll even go back to purchase more priceless keepsakes to add to his collection. So, if you have someone in your family who would benefit from this iconic establishment, then take them shopping with you, bring them to an event, and keep Acme Comics on your list for birthday and Christmas presents!
