Thank you for sticking with us during our busy summer, but we have one more month to go before Fall really sets in and then we will start our Octoberfest in Sioux Falls, and maybe even an apple orchard tour. So, if you will join us on our Wedding Series during the month of September where we will tour 10 locations to get married here in Siouxland.

I strategically picked the month of September because October is the most popular month to get married according to Wedding Wire and The Knot, so hopefully this will give you ideas for your upcoming nuptials. So, without further ado, let’s begin!

Starting where we left off

Naturally since we just finished our tour of Ida Grove, that is where we are going to start our tour. And you may recognize the name Eric from last month’s blog posts, because Eric not only allowed us access to many hidden gems around town, but he also oversees and helps run the business located at Old Town Vineyard.

Founded in 2006 when property owners Dr. John and Lenee Sinnott planted 100 Marechal Foch grape vines, Old Town Vineyard has just recently begun to host weddings. Deciding to step away from the chaotic life of being active business owners, the Sinnotts trusted the property and its event planning to Eric, who I met up with in early July. He showed me around the property, and informed me that during harvest in mid-September they host a grape stomping night where several families come out to help prepare the grapes for wine making. Unfortunately, I already have all my vacation days planned and could not get this weekend off, but I know next year I would love to attend, because I hear they also serve homemade spaghetti afterwards!

Looks can be deceiving

You may think that the accommodations inside the main building are small, but do not fret, the Old Town Vineyard has the capacity to host approximately 250 people via their outside patio. And if you book with the vineyard, you are welcome to have your ceremony on the lawn in front of the open-air pavilion, or amongst the trees with string lighting hanging from branch to branch. Your event goers will be able to enjoy the landscape and surrounding scenery, while migrating inside for some cold beers and chilled wine. And even better, the wine is made on location, which means this would be a perfect wedding favor for your wedding party!

Looking to host a family gathering, graduation party, or even a ladies’ night out? Consider Old Town Vineyard. With an on-site kitchen, you have your choice of designing a menu for your guests or bringing in your own caterer. Personally, with Ida Grove being such a small town, I would take advantage of their kitchen amenities and check your options for what meals your guests can choose from. Cost to book with Old Town Vineyard varies on your event attendance and what you plan to put on your menu, so check with Eric on budgeting details.

Plan your event and your next visit

For more information about the vineyard check out their website (https://www.oldtowniawines.com/) where, if you have a fifth wheel or camper van, you can also book an overnight stay with them since they are a Harvest Host. In addition, visit their Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/OldTownIAwines) to stay current on their upcoming events. Open throughout the week, and hosting live bands, this charming venue and winery is worth the drive if you are looking for a quick getaway from the city and into a small town.

Finally, Old Town Vineyard has been able to acquire four acres of land over the years, and now produces nine varieties of wine (some of which have won awards at the Iowa State Fair!). With that much land you’ll have lots to do if you book your event here, and even more if you stay overnight.

Cheers! And happy wedding planning.
