This business I’m especially excited to write about. I’ve met the owners, Amie and Marty, several times, bought their products and heard their story.
My First Visit
So here I am walking through the mall, and I pass by this kiosk “Sioux City Jerky”. My first, and honest, thought was “Oh, cool. Someone put our city name on some random jerky”. You have to forgive me, since there are a lot of imitators and bogus businesses who start up shop at the center kiosks in the mall. But boy was I wrong!
I found out they are a legit local business here in Sioux City, and just needed somewhere to start so they can get their name out there. Smart move! Eventually, they will move into their own brick and mortar location, but one thing at a time.
First Impressions
I initially bought two flavors, brought them home, and my fiancé and I were pleasantly surprised. We had just visited Vegas a month prior, where we tried their local jerky, but Sioux City Jerky far surpassed what Vegas offered.
It is not too dry, nor is it overly thin or brittle. It is well seasoned, but not overbearing, and tender and soft.
We vowed, we would support this business through our many future purchases. It has become our place to get jerky now, and we love that Sioux City’s name is on the label!
How It All Started
Amie told me, Marty would make his own jerky at home, and friends of his would tell him it’s some of the best they’ve had. Eventually Marty earned his Bachelors degree in Business, and after a slow start, Sioux City Jerky was established.
On his property, Marty would develop and perfect his own flavors, nineteen to be exact. Sixteen beef, and three bacon. We’ve tried The Original, Tropical Cyclone and Spiced Sweetly. We also gave the Tundra Teriyaki to my fiancé’s brother for Christmas. It was perfect since this specific flavor has a Green Bay Packers design on it, and he happens to be a huge fan of the team.

Amie has told me Sioux City Jerky has grown so fast, they are trying to keep up with the ever-increasing sales and demand. They are currently in 43 locations around Sioux City metropolitan area, and they ship nation-wide.
Final Thoughts
I am thrilled I stumbled upon this new local business! There is something so exciting watching someone’s dreams manifest into a profitable business.
So, when you are at your next gas station run, making a visit to the mall or even out on the town, and looking for a snack, pick up their jerky. You will not be disappointed.
