Sertoma Park

Located near the Southern Hills Mall, this park is small, but aesthetically beautiful. Spanning forty-two acres, Sertoma Park is equipped with disc golf, a paved walking trail, public restrooms, children’s playground and a large outdoor covered shelter.

Something for everyone

Throughout the years, I’ve seen kite flyers, large cookouts, model plane enthusiasts, and in fact, the disc golf course within the park is considered advanced level, perfect for the intrepid athlete looking for a challenge.

In addition, in the winter, the large hill behind the park is a popular place for sledding. You can hear kids and their parents squealing with excitement as they race towards the bottom of the hill in their makeshift toboggins.

Personally, I like coming here to jog the trail, and now that I have a mountain bike, what better way to break in my new wheels than a fairly easy path. Plus, the views of this simple, but picturesque pond is perfect for a relaxing afternoon.

Excellent location

Located across the street from Outback Steakhouse, this would be an ideal location for your next picnic. Order your food to go, then drive fifty feet to your personal outdoor patio.

Finally, look up, and you’ll see a noticeable water tower. Recently painted to recognize the famous 1946 Western tune “Sioux City Sue” sang by both Gene Autry and Bing Crosby.

Now that restaurants are opening back up, and we can now visit the mall, I plan to make this an early morning stop, and get myself motivated and out of the house before I run my errands for the day.
